Groups: what can go, and where each one is used

See groups with no members that are used nowhere, and where every other group is used before you change it.

ForJira admins

Before you startSeatwise has finished a check.

  1. Open Groups. The top part lists groups with no members that are used nowhere.
  2. Seatwise doesn't delete groups. Choose “Delete in Atlassian admin” to delete one there.
  3. “Check before you change” lists groups that are used in Jira. Choose “See where” on a row.
  4. Each use has a link. Uses include permission schemes, project roles, shared filters, dashboards, issue security schemes, workflows, notification schemes and service queues.
  5. “Not checked by Seatwise” names the places it can't check, such as “Automation rules” and “Approvals in Jira Service Management”.
  6. “Not used anywhere else” lists groups that give access or admin rights, but that no scheme, role or filter uses.
  7. Groups that Atlassian manages fold into one row. Seatwise never suggests changing them. Choose “Show them” to see the list.
  8. From a person's details, choose “See where” to jump to that group on this page.

What you should see

You know where each group is used before you remove people from it or delete it.

If something is not right

“Not checked by Seatwise” names a place that is usually checked. Jira didn't let Seatwise read that place. Check it yourself in Jira's settings.

A group shows “From your identity provider”. Your identity provider decides who is in it. Change its members there, not in Jira.

Members shows “Only app accounts” or “No active people”. Seatwise counts only active people as members. App accounts and deactivated accounts are left out of that number.
