Clean up seats

Add Atlassian's user export for last-seen dates

Atlassian's user export has the date each person was last seen in Jira. Seatwise reads it in your browser and keeps only two facts per person.

ForJira admins who can open admin.atlassian.com

Before you startYou can open Directory, then Users, at admin.atlassian.com. Seatwise has finished a check.

  1. On People, choose “Add Atlassian's user export” in the note below the list.
  2. You can also open a person and choose “Add user export”, or press Ctrl K and choose “Add user export”.
  3. In the dialog, open admin.atlassian.com. Go to Directory, then Users.
  4. Choose Export users and download the CSV file.
  5. Back in Seatwise, pick the file under “CSV file from Export users”.
  6. Seatwise says how many people it found and how many have a last-seen date. Choose the button, for example “Add 540 dates”.
  7. Seatwise reads the file in your browser. It keeps only each person's account ID and last-seen date. The file itself is never uploaded.
  8. Each person's details now show “Last seen” under “From Atlassian's user export”.
  9. If the export shows someone was seen within your chosen time, Seatwise leaves them off the cleanup list.
  10. Seatwise keeps the dates from the last file you added. Add a new export to update them.

What you should see

Seatwise says “Matched … people with a Jira seat.” People seen recently drop off the cleanup list.

If something is not right

Seatwise says the file has no “User id” column, or no “Last seen in Jira” column. Seatwise needs the file from Export users, unchanged. Download it again from admin.atlassian.com and pick that file.

Some people in the file were not matched. They don't have a Jira seat on this site, so Seatwise leaves them out. This is normal for people who use other products only.
